An exceptional example of a Suffragette vintage brooch, crafted from 18ct yellow gold, and adorned with a colour mix of green (peridot), purple (tourmaline) and white (seed pearls.)
By wearing the colour combination of green, purple and white in garments and jewellery, women of the period could communicate their identity as a suffragette or their support for the movement.
Measuring 60mm x 30mm, the brooch fastens with sturdy pin. The brooch is stamped 18CT but there is no hallmark to date the item, although it is typical of the Edwardian period. We have tested the gold and our team of goldsmiths and valuers agree that it is 18ct carat gold.
This is beautiful piece of heirloom jewellery, which could be adapted to a pendant by a goldsmith, if you would prefer an alternative use.
