Dazzling and intricate, this heirloom antique brooch has an Art Deco geometrical pattern, set with twinkling diamonds. The smaller diamonds are an antique cut, known as a rose-cut, faceted to a top point. The larger diamonds are also an antique cut, referred to as an old-cut, the predecessor of the modern round brilliant. The antique diamond's, originally mined and cut pre-1930 would have been shaped and faceted without the modern technology the diamond industry relies on today, making an old cut diamond something to admire. Measuring 40mm x 21mm, the brooch fastens with sturdy pin. There is no hallmark on this piece which is expected for jewellery from this age, but we have tested the gold and our team of goldsmiths and valuers agree that it is 18ct carat gold. The front has a finish of white metal, which was the fashion of the Art Deco period and greatly enhances the sparkle of diamonds. The reverse remains the original yellow gold colour. This vintage brooch is part of our pre-owned collection and has been lightly cleaned to maintain the patina and fully checked and tested so you can buy with confidence from Gold Arts.
