This exquisite antique brooch is glamourous yet understated, a design showing the progression away from the floral motifs of the Victorian and Edwardian period towards the modernity and clean lines of the 1930’s and 1940’s – the period of Art Deco. The brooch is made of Platinum, beautifully polished to a mirror shine and set with exceptional Old Cut Diamonds of VS clarity and G colour with a total carat weight of approximately 0.75ct. The Sapphires are square cut and have a strong royal blue colour. The fastening is beautifully made with the point of the pin protected by a small cage with an additional lever that folds over locking the pin into place for added safety. The brooch measures 80mm x 3mm and weighs 6.9 grams. The brooch is not hallmarked, which is typical of platinum of that period, so we have had a goldsmith test the metal to confirm it is Platinum.
The brooch is part of our pre-owned collection and has been cleaned and polished to perfection and fully checked and tested so you can buy with confidence. This is a truly beautiful piece of craftmanship, with attention to detail in the design and neat accurate settings of the high quality gemstones. The design looks fresh and new and would look as avant garde on todays clothes as when it was made.
