This is a beautiful example of the intricate fob jewellery which would have originally formed a decorative element to a gentleman’s pocket watch and chain. This fob dating from the Victorian period is classed as seal as it has a flat Citrine set into the base, which if engraved with a monogram or a family crest could have been used as a stamp to give authority to wax sealed documents. The other end is a Pocket Watch Key, which would have been used daily to wind the pocket watch. Crafted from 9ct Yellow Gold, the pendant is long and elegant, with engraved and chased detail. The key section is made of gilded Steel. The fob is in excellent original condition, with expert polishing to recondition the gold. The gold loop on the side makes this gorgeous piece of jewellery suitable for the modern wearer, as it will sit beautifully on a standard necklace chain. This would make a wonderfully unusual key gift for an 18th or 21st Birthday, that could be worn on a necklace or simply as a keepsake. The pendant measures 40mm x 9mm x 6mm and weighs 4.2 grams and tests as 9ct gold, although no markings are present.
